Bring-A-Box Wednesday

Today we started the morning out with Mr. Maksymchuk passing out our report cards, mental math and continued working with the maximization volume box problem.
Considerations:
1. "How big are the corners to remember?"
If I remove this big of a corner, then the volume is this...
HINT: Spreadsheet
2. V(x) as a function of the square corner measure (x)
Bring your boxes for tomorrow morning!

maximizing the volume of a open top box

Today in math we started out with the always fun mental math. Everyone should if you have to re-write the test put date that they would like to re-write it, if you would like to have some say in the test date. Today we were given about a question about maximizing the volume of a open top box. The picture on the below is the question that we have to answer. On Wednesday march 24th you will have to have a box made and be ready to hand it in to Mr. Maksymchuk. There are many different things that you are able to make your box out of including things like paper, cardboard and if you would like you could even use metal.

Ticalc!

Today Mr. Maksymchuck showed us a new website related to math, http://www.ticalc.org/

It has tons of helpful math resources (and games) available for download and use on your calculator, so go grab some NOW!

Other then that, today is a work period, so we can catch up on accelerated math because we should have 29 objectives by spring break

St. Patrick's Day!

Today in math we went over the morning bulleton and did are 14th mental math. Mr.Masksymchuk made all the mental math questions related to St.Patrick's Day. After we finished correcting mental math we got to work on what ever we needed to get done for a hour ( the rest of the class). We never got nothing new or learned anything new. Most people just worked on thier accelerater math. Have a good St. Patrick's Day!

Pi day!

We started off the day with mental math. Then discussed our test that we did previously and one we have coming up before spring break.

Apparently it was Pi day yesterday.. if your like me and never heard about it before well here is a short definition provided by wikipedia

-Pi Day and Pi Approximation Day are two holidays held to celebrate the mathematical constant π (pi) (in the mm/dd date notation: 3/14); since 3, 1 and 4 are the first three decimal digits of π. March 14 is also the birthday of Albert Einstein and the two events are sometimes celebrated together.

<-- This is him..I didn't intensionally mean to keep the second picture, but it would not erase for some reason.

3-20 people were done the homework.. so we finished that up for the rest of the class.

The Day After....

On Wednesday we reviewed "Quadratic Functions" for the Curlers that were away on Tuesday. I was one of the curlers so, the review from the previous day was a benefit. I still am a little confused on how this stuff works out, among other students in the class, so if you know what you are doing please feel free to help out. To help out some, I downloaded the video for Wednesday March, 10th, but however couldn't get the files for the lesson to download. Sorry and good luck!

For other people, like the curlers that were away or even people that don't understand, I suggest that you watch the lesson(video) from March 9th, it gives quite a bit of information.

o hai!
A day in the life of an average eurpean person. In the morning they woke up. They got angry that there breath was sour so they got angry. They went on a evil rampage and destroyed half the world. Soon the earhs resources were all used up. Gas prices sky rocket and many people died of the bubonic plague.
Soon alien invades came from outer space and started to enslave the human race. Soon man kind was destroyed. But suddenly the savage Europeans decided they had enuf. They took up arms of quadruple barreld shot guns and started blasting aliens to hell. Soon they stole the aliens weapons and started vapourizing their ships. Soon the aliens were driven back. The Europeans scientsists made better weapons out of the alien technology. They also made huge ship yards and started making death stars. Soon the aliens fleets were destroyed and the Europeans blew up the aliens world. The eurpeans stopped fighting for a minute, Took a drink of beer, then went on to take over the rest of the universe.
Hence, the empire was born.

Another Day in The Center of The Universe

Today we had a sub. Our sub was Mr. Penner, Mr. Maksymchuk was gone in some kind of interviews. The sub read out what we were supposed to be doing which was; work on ACC. Math, we were assigned another 5 objectives which puts us at 20 in total. Other than this and having to work with the dreadful word problems I found it a good class.

Super Kong Says What Happened!

Guess what! Today we got our tests back! YAYZOR! -_- WAIT I DIDN'T GET MY TEST! Oh she means a test for us to do in AM (Accelerated Math)....
I also got an exercise that we probably gotta do...
We didn't learn much yet so it seems today is another one of those work really hard days! HAH!

YAY!!! Math!!!

Yesterday in math, we spent the whole class catching up on accelerated math while Mr. Maksymchuk was away. If we were already where we were supposed to be, we worked on what else needed to be done.
