Today we started off great with no mental math but we had a sub. For Mr. Maksymchuk was away. Watching Oprah and Dr. Phil. Anyways today we are to continue with accelerated math. don't fall behind. So ketchup.

The Epicness of Being Late

I was supposed to blog on February 22, but due to some technical difficulties I am posting today. So, on that day it was short blocks, which means no lesson or mental math usually. In that case, we had a work period. All of us were doing either accellerated math or the word problem excercise.
Or for those that understand webdings:
I was supposed to blog on Febuary 22, but due to some technical difficulties I am posting today. So, on that day it was short blocks, which means no lesson or mental math usually. In that case, we had a work period. All of us were doing either accellerated math or the word problem exercise.
Today we discussed how to improve our blog posts to better the grade 11th math blog. The above post has nothing to do with math, unless you count as this as an mathematical expression Oprah+money=infinite power . As you can see an explanation can add so much more creativity. Later in this year you're going to know the difference between a Liske post and an Oman post, plus it makes life a whole lot easier for the children. TMNT FTW.

Word Problems

Word Problems are sentence sequenced problems in which you are needed to find something such as a cost, or maybe the distance of the object of transportation (ex. Car, Plane, Train, Boat...etc) Example of these word problems below!
1) Plane flies 900 km with a tail wind of 3h. Later, the same plane flies the same path at 4h over the 900 km against the wind. What is the speed of the plane with no wind?
When trying to figure out the equation, you need your X and Y to represent info you don't know.

X=the speed of the plane with no wind

Y=speed of wind in km/h (kph)

So....... You plug this into formula now and the rest of the stops are shown in the image!

2) The Sum of the digits of two-digit number is 12. If the digits are reversed, the new number is 36 more than the original number. Find the original number.

Im sorry everyone that i didnt blog when i was supposed to..
my day was feb 19th
we learned something new that day. im Pretty sure it was a day 1 so we didnt do mental math and Mr. Maksymchuk talk for about 40 Mins...

Feb.18th

Today we never learned a new lesson. However, we got to finish our homework and continue to work on accelerated math. Mr. Maksymchuk explained to us again how we have to master ALL our objectives to be able to earn our credit. WORK HARD AND DON'T FALL BEHIND!

feb 17,10 Elimination method or addition/subtraction method

In math today mr. Maksymchuk taught us a new lesson called addition and subtraction and when he was done he assigned number 6, you could do odd numbers or even numbers which will be checked tomorrow. If you finish that you can do accelerated math, which there is lots of to do.

Substitution Method (again)

Today we went over substitution method again, because it seemed that no body showed their work, or did the homework at all. Mr. Maksymchuk showed us how to turn 1 line into the variable we would be substituting into the other line ( e.g X) in order to find one variable (Y) which we could then substitute inorder to find the X variable. Or something like that...

Enjoy;

Substitution Method

Today we went over this method. Feb.12/10
I learned quite a few interesting things by hearing this lesson. To improve my knowledge on the Substitution Method. Mr Maksymchuk also starts talking about cougars at the 17-19 minute mark.

Today in math we didn't do any mental math. Instead we went over how to do accelerater math and he showed us how to scan your accelerater math sheets to see how well you did on it and to know if you need more pratice or if you can write the test for that section. If you needed more practice it will print out some more work so you can have more pratice and try to get it. After he explian every thing he needed to tell us about accelerater math we got to work on it, so we just had a work class, because he never taught us anything new today.

Wednesday, February 10, 2010

In today's class, Mr. Maksymchuk was away. So we didn't have any mental math or lessons. Instead, we were assigned to complete questions on #1 and #2 from the first handout and to start and finish #3. When completed, we were then to do accelerated math. Overall, everyone was working efficiently and on task.

Do NOT call your title of your post the date :)

Starting off the day good with no mental math!
-Some people decided to try and bring their mark up by doing the old homework over, plus the new questions to get some marks in where they lost yesterday.

And last but not least we learnt Systems of Linear Systems:
.. Which I cannot upload so someone else will put it up!

2/6/10

Today we recapped on Linear Equations and learned about SYSTEM Solutions.

Some mental math questions...

Some months have 30 days, some months have 31 days. How many months have 28 days?

A farmer had 17 sheep. All but 9 died. How many live sheep were left?

Divide 30 by half and add ten. What do you get?

you can read more of these type of questions at: http://www.knowledgebase-script.com/demo/article-467.html#ixzz0ec7LsLJG

Todays Events February 4 /10

Today Mr. Maksymchuk gave us our first mental math. I was quite pleased with the results due to me getting 100% on it. By the looks of things at my table everyone else was doing quite well as well. After this we all got to get our lap tops. Then our task was to make sure we were all part of the blog and to put up a "nothing" post of basically what ever we wanted. However since it is my job to be the blog scribe today I get to post what we did. After all of this happened the bell rang and we were dissmissed. Since we didn't actually take a real lesson today with notes I have posted a link to a math help website below.

Looking forward to a new and interesting year in math. :D

Vertical Line Test

In mathematics, the vertical line test is a test to determine if a curve is a relation or graph of a function when the function's domain and codomain correspond to the x and y axes of the Cartesian coordinate system. As a relation or graph of a function can only have one output for each unique input, such a Cartesian representation of the function can have at most a single y value for each x value. Thus, a vertical line drawn at any x position on the graph of a function will intersect the graph at most once.

I look forward to the art of blogging.

I am looking forward to a fun and turtlicious year in Applied Math this year.

From the mind of a turtle.

Math expressions are uncommon to me. Being one who spends 22 hours of the day near water. Have no fear the mutagen has changed me and enabled myself to be a master of twin katana weapons. Not to metion the ability to learn and adapt to new environments. Not too keen on the arts of math, but i'm sure My sensi will guide me on the path to knowledge.

IMportant!

Not realley -_- ANyways YAY i posted a picture
help haiti poeple! Donate funds!

"What did YOU learn today?"

FYI: "y= plus a equation" IS a function!

....Plus this happy kitty

practice post

Looking forward to a great semester of applied math!!!

Its time to kick shell, and start off this year right!

We like it at one time but we hate it at other times

The Graphing calculator

The graphing calculator is a very usual tool which may be used for multiple things such as the obvious math solving skills and graphing down equsions. Even used to pass by time playing simple little games. P.S..... to anyone who reads this, maksymchuk hates when u play games on the graphing calulator so i advise not doing so!

BADGOOD

An Important lesson of HISTORY!

Today in math we learnt about a complicated term known as "functions." Now here is our comedic relief, after a hard long class of brain frazzling.

Math games and problems

This is a math problem that you can try to complete and get the right answer.
