There was a tragic oil spill in Lousiania.

Today in math we looked at the tragic oil spill in Lousiania. We also seen a little clip that showed us how much it spread. So this means if you like shrimp you better start buying some now before they get to expensive to afford. After we looked at that we actually started to work we had the choice to either work on your accelerater math or Exercise 2: Interest questions 1-12 or you could of work on any work that you haven't got done yet.

100 th POST!

WOO HOO! #100 is mine! /\ _ /\

Accelerated math

Geography kids are back! Which means they probably have homework, therefore today is a workday! Accelerated math all around.

We have a big assgnment to do, and on the board it says "do all excercise #2; simple interest" -Mr.Maksymchuk.

Also get started on your calculator programs that you have to create as well as finishing the spreadsheet on the computer and have a nice day :)

Simple Interest!

Today, after the long weekend Mr. Maksymchuk hammered us with some insanely tough, incredibly challenging stuff. NAH! Just kidding, it was all pretty straight forward. We learned how to calculate Interest, Principal, Rate, and Time. First we were shown the hand trick, than we made a spreadsheet, and after some errors we made a program on our calculators.
Those images show what we learned today.

Thursday the Work Day.

Well we started the day off by getting a talk by Mr. Maksymchuk as usual. Today the topic was don't sit back in the last few weeks and try to finish next year, or he will FAIL you. Made it very clear that he is not scared to fail you, so you better put it in a high math gear. He ended his talk off by telling us how we should start studying for the exam coming up in about a month and a bits time by studying atleast once a week. Then he told us today is a work period so o i better get to work!!

The Usual

We took a TADD test and won chemically coated candy. After that we did accelerated math for the rest of the class.

Equations of Circles

Equations of Circles is AMO (Acc. math objective) number 60. We start the lesson off by Mr. Maksymchuk reminding us that a circle is a relation because of it failing the vertical line test. Two things about a circle that you can change are:

1. LOCATION / POSITION (coordinates of center)

2. SIZE (based on radius of diameter)

The next thing we did was play around with Graphmatica and learned that if you put x^2+y^2=e^2 (x squared + y squared = radius squared) it makes a circle. Then we learned that if you put the x and y in ( ) then you can add values to them, such as (x-8)^2+(y-7)^2=4. This made a circle in the positive quadrant which was interesting because of the equation haves -8 and -7. However when you put +8 and +7 it goes into the negative quadrant.

This is why the circles go where they go in the quadrants.
Mr. Maksymchuk then showed us how to do two of Mikayla's problems, as shown below:

Onto post yet again

And today Mr Maks is back! Figures that we better finish our math soon... Max gear or something. Circltheorums (ums?) are still due, don't forget about that re-test thingie for systems, and No Mental Math TOday.
Just as well don't forgot to email Mr Maks on why you deserve a 100% on your blog justification. -_-

JOKES

Q. What does a mathematician do when he's constipated?

A. He works it out with a pencil.

What a lovely morning, great for working on our Accelerated Math while Mr. Maksymchuk is away. Seeing as I don'y have much to say heres a picture to look at.

Thursday, May 13, 2010

Today Mr.Maksymchuk was away as he informed us of yesterday, So we were to work on our Accelerated math.

There are 10 kinds of mathematicians. Those who can think binarily and those who can't...

Email Maskymchuk

Today we are to email Mr. Maskymchuk. Mr. Maskymchuk would like to see us suceed at passing this course by completing all the accelerated math the has been assigned. He is still needing the circle therom assignments from a few more students. Several students will be leaving for the geography trip in a few days they are encouraged to do accelerated math while they are away. WOOWW YAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
